thats is a pto znd pto stands for power take off you can put them on some transmissons or on some transfer cases if you have 4x4 and use it to power things such as winches dump beds etc.

The four speed (yours) has the tall cone for the shifter as well, The 3 spd has a hemisphere there instead.
