Ok, this is the official, meeting announcement thread.
(DATE AND TIME TBA)
Bring yourself, bring your truck, and bring a friend! See you there!
Ok everyone, I'm a member of another car club here in MT and we started having weekly get-togethers 3 years and they are still a hit.
SO, where should we have these?
We meet Sundays at noon at Rocky Mountain Roasting on Main right now.
I was thinking maybe we could meet Thursday nights around 6 somewhere?
RMR is not going to be a good place for an evening GTG so where would be?
We need plenty or parking, a place to grab a cup of coffee, and basically a place to talk.
I'm suggesting our local hippie coffee shop, Leaf and Bean on 19th.
Plenty of parking, good enough coffee, and easy to get to.
Anywhere downtown is a biyatch to drive a full size truck so let's try to stay away from there.
First, weekly? Maybe bi-weekly or monthly would be more appropriate. We could rotate those meetings with shop days where those with the knowledge and tools could actually help those without. That way we have something going that is more than just sitting around bull$#!^ing (though I'm sure shop days would include plenty of that).
Secondly, Leaf & Bean on 19th may very well have the worst service of any coffee shop in town, at least every time I'm there, though they do have good parking. Regardless, I think it would work as well as any other place in this town. However, there is also a new coffee shop just south of Kohl's (by BB&B) that I haven't yet been to that might work also. I wish I could remember the name of the place...
Third, 6 is too early, I think. I often work until 6 and so do many others (especially those who work up the canyon). 7 would probably be better. Thursdays are as good as any other night.
Anything else I missed?

I've got a 20x20 garage that's unheated and a big driveway that should be half empty by summer. I also have plenty of tools to complete most day long jobs.
So how about our first GTG at a place like City Brew then? I think that's the place you're talking about Shameless.
I work late when we're really busy as well so 7pm works better for me as well!
Should we just try to have it at City Brew in two weeks? That would be the 19th of March.
That would work for me. The 19th would give some time to get others on board.
It is City Brew, I googled it. I hadn't realized who they were until I went looking at their website. They're actually based out of Billings and when I used to live there that was where I got my coffee from.
I also have a good sized garage - 34'x36' - that's heated (though it's the main floor of my house and stinky projects have to stay outside).
I also have a fairly modest selection of tools (i.e. basic hand tools, 2 compressors-one's a monster, but no welder and no metal-working tools yet, though I could really use some right now for my cafe racer project). This is what happens when you've moved too many times; you don't get to acquire a proper collection (well, that and paying for college).

Agreed, and if no one else is interested by then we'll get together and figure some things out to try and get more people to come.
Now that I know you have a heated garage I might have to bribe you with some and money if I need a warm place to work on my F150 haha.
Believe me, I need so many more tools it's not even funny, I'm too damn broke to build my collection any further though. And I've got a baby on the way!
Can you send out a mass email to all of the forum members who live in Bozeman, Belgrade and Livingston about the meeting? Not that I'm against people from other places attending, but those are our likely participants.

That I cannot due but I can send one to all the members in the state.
I've been trying to send one out to everyone in MT to get them to join the chapter anyways so I'll do that today.
Mine's there now, though I'm just as likely to answer to Shameless in real life, seeing that it's been my CB handle for better than 17 years.

Hey Stoney! Is this still happening? Have you managed to recruit anyone else?
