They don't have cell phones, computers, or any of that new fangled stuff as they call it, so they just didn't know where to get one. I found one on the internet that was in a wooden box with a radio, cd player, and cassette player made up to look like an old fashioned unit. I showed it to my daughter and asked her where to buy something like that. She said Target, and I'll be darned if Target's website didn't have the exact model and even said the store closest to me had one in stock.
Still can't believe how excited they were. Glad we live in the country and their house in down the way a bit. With him being a little hard of hearing, if we lived in town, we'd be having to call the cops about the radio blaring all night long next door

If it was here, we'd probably just go down there and listen with them! That's really great! I was in Best Buy the other day and was shocked to see a NEW LP on the Rack with the CDs and it was a new release. I knew they still made them in limited quantities but have not been anywhere where they've actually had them out on the racks...pretty neat.

you know they have usb turntables you hook to the puter...you can rip the songs and they will sound just like playing on a record player!

This one came with a cord that could plug into an ipod and play that. It was easier to just tell them they didn't need that cable than to explain what an ipod was.
Of course I don't have an ipod either, so when we get one of these, I'll probably throw that cable away too. The next version up from the one we got them can burn an LP onto a cd. My wife says she wants one of those for Christmas. That counts as a gift for her even if I end up using it more, right?
you can also get an adapter to connect any audio or video device to you puter
when recording from record or tape you can edit the noise out before burning to CD
Will also let you use puter as a VCR
