it didn't have the winch when I bought it. I added that along with some other mods. I have the winch setup with wireless remote and a battery system on the trailer. (now only have 2 spare 8K winches in my garage).... took off the pintle hitch as I discovered Pintles pull like crap on light duty trucks. anyway I had a 25K Atwood ball coupler laying around that bolted right in place of the pintle. the tow ball is 30K rated thought he receiver is only 12,500lb heh...
had it out on the freeway today with bobcat on it and it tows beautifully now. stops on a dime with 6 wheel brakes. I think they are 7K axles load range F tires. I thought of you when I bought it heh
here is what it looked like when I bought it
it was wandering all over when I towed it home. someone had added 3/16th angle iron in strips on the dovetail in addition to the strips of rebar as well as overkill on the supports for the ramps. ended up removing all that and scrapped it. took about 300lbs of the rear of the trailer. even with the pintle it towed better after that as it finally had some tongue weight

Got it at auction in Denver area, same auction I got the previous trailer at.. with fees and buyer premium it came to about $1000... a steal really, it had just been repainted too...
It has stakebed holes for 1 1/2" square tube so I have the tubing and plan on building sides for it.. probably about 1 ft high just for hauling dirt etc.
it weighed in at 3260lb at local scrap place (still hooked to truck, but truck was off the scale on the downslope) so I figure total its about 3500lb empty as there was not much tongue weight due the the slope exiting the scale

What is the deck size? 8' wide or 8.5'? Looks like 16' or 18' long with a 4' dovetail?
I thought about getting a deck-over trailer instead of the long 24' one I got. Both my machines are 4' wide. (Stump grinder and skid steer.) Actually about 1" less, each. With a 8' or 8.5' wide deck, I could set them side by side and get away with only having a 12' deck. That would have been much more manageable than the overall 30' that my current trailer is. Of course, Big pieces of wood wouldn't do as good on a no-sided deck-over trailer.
I've also been thinking about getting a bigger dump trailer. Either 18' or 20'. I could still get both my machines on and I wouldn't have to carry my skid steer with me to unload the wood. Just hit the dump button. That would save 45 minutes to an hour per trip plus I could carry 4k lbs more since the skid steer wouldn't have to be on there.
I want a chipper but this way I wouldn't have to get a chipper AND a chip truck. I could keep the Excursion in service.
Need so many toys, don't have enough money. lol
