1964 292: As original, the engine was painted black, the valve covers only were painted red.

The saddle tanks were installed after the fact, as Ford never offered them.

The floor mounted shifter isn't original either, neither is the tach.

The F O R D letters on the tailgate are supposed to be painted red.

These comments are based on the fact that not everyone here on FTE knows what's original...and what is not.

See my signature. I was a Ford partsman for 35 years, and have every Ford truck parts catalog from 1928 thru 2002.

Besides this, I'm a car/truck collector/historian and have purchased over 80 FoMoCo vehicles from a 1936 Lincoln Zephyr V12 to a 2008 Edge.

Bought new: 1965 F100, 1968 F250 Ranger, 1971 Ranger XLT, 1979 F150 Lariat SC, 1988 F150 Lariat SC, 1992 F150 Lariat SC, 2004 F150 Lariat CC / 1979 Thunderbird, 1983 LTD, (EDIT) 2008 Fusion, 2008 Edge.

btw: Henry Ford died in 1947. Dozens of the cars in his funeral parade were new 1947 Lincolns, but 'ol Henry took his last ride in a Packard hearse.

btw, part II: I did not buy the 1936 Lincoln Zephyr brand new...I'm old...but not that old.

But I've always had a thing for 1965/79's, bought a '65, '68, '71, and '79 new, owned a few used ones, also. So I know these trucks pretty darn well, far better than most.
I also know how FoMoCo operates.
Ford offered different trim lines: Customs, Rangers, Ranger XLT's and Ranger Lariats (1978 and later).
That's interesting....(To say the least)
I agree with you.
I LOVE the 73-79s the most!
Then the 61-66 The second best...
Then anything before 1960.
Then the Bumps.
If it don't fit in that category,it don't belong on the road.(PERIOD)
No Offense to any-one.

Speaking of originality...inre to your Avatar.

The 390 was not available with 4WD. 1968/76: The only V8 available was the 360 2V.

Note that while I bought 1988 and 1992 F150's, I did not buy a 1980/86. I never cared for the front end styling.

Of all the new trucks I've owned, the 1971 is my favorite...wish I had it back...but where it is today...I dunno.

There's a minty original loaded '72 F100 Ranger XLT with 40K on the clock in Carson, that a (late) pal of mine bought brand new.

I'd like to buy it...but his widow wants BIG BUCKS, more than a new King Ranch retails for.

I am aware a 390/302 was never available in a 4x4,I just didn't want to edit it to make it a two wheel drive, way too much work...

No 460 4WD's until 1983. The 302 was available after 1979 with 4WD.

leonharu...good looking ride...2 lil things you may or may not know are not correct as original...first, the armrest on your left door is a RH armrest...the portion that sticks out furthest is closer to the rear of the door...Secondly, ...the gas cap is originally stainless on all of these trucks...as I recall anyway...I know some earlier and later ones were painted so I wouldnt be surprised if painted was an option of some type on F100 and F250 trucks.
