Very nice truck Chris! And WELCOME! Looks like the dash pad was removed at some time too as the mouldings are still there. These really are great trucks and for the year drive very nice too. Simple and cheap to fix.... Pretty much anything you need to do is easy to repair. Keep it nice and it will never go down in value. Hard to beat.

Wow, a dash pad? The dash looks so good I thought that's the way it was supposed to be. We got a great deal (no money changed hands, trade) on it as the guy who owned it was frustrated with it. He couldn't get it to run right. Turned out to be a simple stuck float in the carburetor.

Now the only problem is getting it tagged. It's been out of the system since 1982. Yikes.

Bill, Yes it is which is the same paint code as Calypso Coral 60449. I think it was supposed to be a 66 Mustang only color?

What was told to me is Sam Posey (where truck is from) was able to order 9 of these trucks (from the Texas plant even tho the Arizona ones should have come from California) This is truck 2 out of 9 I am told. This came from Sam's Son. The dealership was in Gila Bend Arizona and was the western Shelby distributor at the time. He had a lot of pull.

Parking my original paint Boss 302 next to it I was not surprised to find the Calypso Coral and Poppy red have the same paint ID (60449) My trucks paint code is 5M.

At this time I only know of one other with this paint code. A bit different because it has a Red interior with white/black trim.

I absolutely love the color combo!

The 5M paint code was written with grease pencil on truck about a half dozen places. After one it says RPO.

Here is one on bottom of hood and it was on firewall in 2 places.

above master cylinder

also on front of box

5M 2 I am sure the 2 is for 2 tone. Also written on box before paint in grease pencil

Boss9F100: What are you using to take the paint off (as in the picture above of the hood)? And did it work well? Better than having it soda blasted?

Posting again.

Not too sure why the pictures were deleted from the thread..but here's one of "The Blue Ford".....A F250 Custom Cab Camper Special....352 4spd. We're having an engine built that we think will pound the pavement pretty good...not that this truck is suited for that kind of abuse....but it should pull real strong.

I always use Aircraft Paint stripper especially with original paint vehicles as it will all come off in one application. I have stripped dozens upon dozens of cars and only one with soda blasting. If done correctly the Aircraft stripper works the best and is most cost effective. Frames and undersides I will sand blast.

Usually costs around 100.00 to strip a car plus a few 8.00 bags of sandblasting sand.

How's the stuff "Aircraft Stripper" effect the trim molding? And is it a high flume smell type product?

Mitch

Thanks! That's what it looked like. I've used the aircraft stripper in the past to take the plastic coating off some chrome wheels on a big Jeep Cherokee. I tried it on my "anodized" chrome and it didn't make a dent on removing the "anodize".

Does not have an effect for stainless, aluminum or chrome trim. washes/neutralizes with water.

It does have a pretty strong smell but the only product I have found that works so well. Should have some type of ventilated place to use it. Even a open window or walk-in door with a fan etc. Works best outside in the sun.

Some people use oven cleaner to remove the anodizing from aluminum. I use a anodizing remover. spray it on and it will start to foam when the foaming stops just wipe/wash it off and its ready to be polished or repaired/polished.

I plan on doing a step by step very soon on my F100 project.
