I know where Lebec is, found a 1929 Lincoln towtruck there in the 1970's (on a ranch) that had been formerly owned by Maddux Inc., the former CA Lincoln Distributor.
Bill, did you buy the '29 Lincoln when you found it? What happened to it? Do you have a picture you could post? I'm trying to imagine how cool a '29 Lincoln would look with a Weaver crane on the back. Not like those rebadged F150s they call a Mark LT now, that's like trying to make us believe the Versailles wasn't a gussied up Granada. Those early Lincolns were far removed from any run of the mill Ford of the day.

I did take pics, but where they are today, I dunno.
Ever see the original 1930's Ford wrecker that the Auto Club of SoCal still has at their Figueroa St HQ's? Same setup.
The '29 Model L Lincoln tow truck began life as a coupe. The body was cut off behind the roof, the tow truck body & appartus was installed along with sign boards with the dealers name on them.
I had gone to this ranch to look at a 1947 Studebaker M5 Series pickup, spotted the Lincoln...it was in sad shape, to say the least.
As you are prolly aware, the bodies back then were wood framed. Termites had been feasting away on it for years, what the termites hadn't eaten, body rot had.
The flathead V8 was long gone. I coulda bought it for peanuts, but...what would I have done with it? I already had more than enough projects.
The Studebaker M5 "pickup" turned out to be a M26 flatbed, it was about in the same shape as the Lincoln.
For all I know, it could still be there today. If I told you all the stuff I passed on back then, you'd prolly have apoplexy!
I coulda bought Charlie Chaplin's 1934 Packard V12 Rollston All-Weather Landaulet for 500 bucks in the 1960's.
It was stored in a chicken coupe behind a house in West LA...it was rough as a cob.
Mae West's 1933 J Duesenberg LeGrande Town Car sat on a used car lot in Santa Monica in the early 1960's for over a year. 400 bucks woulda bought it.
In 1975, I passed on Errol Flynn's 1947 Packard convertible, custom body by Coachcraft. It was advertised in the local Santa Monica newspaper....700 bucks!
It was another cob, one a those cars that someone said "they were gonna restore someday." Meanwhile it had sat outside for years....minus its Carson top.
There wasn't much left of it to restore.

Great story Bill. When I was down in your neighborhood a couple weeks ago, I took your advice and went to the Petersen Museum. They have a '25 Round Door Rolls on display that is just incredible. They said it doesn't drive very well, but what a car to look at. They had a bunch of movie star's cars on display that were the same caliber of car in your list, only restored. I also really liked their Model BB wrecker. Great museum and the best entertainment dollar value in the area at $10. It costs more than that to park at the poor, old derelict Queen Mary.

RMS Queen Mary aka the City of Long Beach's folly. It's been a huge money pit for the city since it arrived in 1967.
The latest proposal: One of the members of the Long Beach City Council wants to refurbish the QM, and use it as cruise liner.
Long Beach set the ship in concrete, protected the outside of the hull with rust preventative, known as cathodic protection in the industry.
But...they did nothing in the way of rust prevention with the inside of the hull, and a good chunk of it looks like Swiss Cheese.
They cut holes in the hull where the engine room is when the ship first arrived, so sea water has been flowing in/out for decades, because the concrete bed has crumbled away.
The bone-headed Councilman thinks all they gotta do is weld the holes up in the hull, tow it to a dry-dock.
Only problem is, there is no commercial dry dock locally that can take a ship of that size after Todd Shipyards closed their Long Beach facility...so it has to go elsewhere, prolly to Vancouver.
It'll never make it. If they try moving it outta that concrete bed, it will soon resemble its near sister, RMS Queen Elizabeth after it capsized in Hong Kong Harbour.
It'll soon join the Princess Louisa, which sank outside of San Pedro harbor several years ago.
This was prolly the last of Canadian-Pacific's liners, it had been used for many years as a restaurant in Redondo Beach.
It slowly rusted away at the dock. When in a near sinking condition, it was towed to a dry dock in San Pedro where it capsized.
They righted it, patched it up, figured they could tow it to Catalina Island (26 miles across the sea...), sink it on purpose for use as a man made reef.
It made it about 1000 ft past the breakwater of San Pedro harbor, where it sank like a rock.

That would be a total waste of money, but right in line with what a politician would do alright. I think it would be cheaper to start from scratch and build a reproduction rather than dealing with all that corrosion and damaged wood from not being looked after, not saying that would be money well spent either. It's too bad. But you can't expect everything to last forever, especially anything near salt water. I had an idea they might have pumps going steady to keep her afloat, but I wasn't aware she is aground with holes in it. But by the shabby look of the ticket booth and surrounding area it doesn't surprise me. That was the biggest disappointment of our trip to California, $62 American dollars I'll never get back for 2 tickets and parking for about a 3 hour visit. It would have been worth it if it looked like they were using that money to look after it properly.
Someone post some more slick pictures please.

Reason: Corrected My post,it has been pointed out that this truck is a F100 not a F-250 as I thought it was,I wasn't paying attention
Sorry, that's a F100...note five lug bolt pattern on the wheels.....that's a mid size car clip on the front and who knows what kind of rear axel... But, that's a real purdy truck...could be on a F250 ...but I'm doubtful.

There are many more of this truck...

1965 F-100 Custom-Cab, 2WD, V-8, Manual, VIN: F10BR602117.
While this may seem like a nice truck to some of y'all, it is faaar from its original form.
F10BR602117: F10 = F100 2WD / B = 300 I-6 / R = San Jose Assembly Plant / 602117 = 1965, assembled October 1964.
This was originally a Standard Cab, not a Custom Cab. Custom Cabs came with a padded dash, have knobs on either side of the dash to operate the air vents.
300 engine replaced with a V8 engine, the V8 hood emblem isn't original either.
The tailgate is from a 1967/72 F100/350.
The fender emblems are from a 1966 F100.
The "spinner" wheelcovers are from a 1965 Galaxie, not offered on F100's.
The radio isn't original, neither are the dual exhausts, or the A/C. The trailer hitch is an after the fact add-on.
Some of the dash knobs, switches are in-correct.
The Custom Cab door handle guards were not available with side mouldings and vice versa.
While the sweep speedo instrument cluster and speedo are correct for a Custom Cab (which this was not originally), the gauges are aftermarket replacements.
The gauge on the far left was never offered.
The seat upholstery material is in-correct, so is the pattern. The seatbelts are not genuine Ford,
The door panels are the wrong color, the inside door handles are from a 1949/52 GM passenger car.
Carpeting was only available on Rangers.
The radio speaker grille was painted, not chromed.
The whitewall tires are too wide. By 1965, whitewall tires were less than 2" wide.
Call me a nit-picker if you like.
When I see things that are not original, I point them out, so others will not be fooled into thinking they are original.
