Oil Leak Question

I put the truck on jacks and ran the 4.9L in gear to find my oil leak. I watched for leaks around the valve cover, oil pan, oil filter, sending unit, etc., but didn't see any leaks until I turned off the engine; then a couple of drops of engine oil ran outside down the middle of the rear plate assembly from the oil pan rear gasket area. Is it the oil pan rear gasket or the rear main, or something else?

Check oil level.

It sounds like a drain-back thing.

How many miles and years are on the rear main seal?

Why it is only when shut down seems like a high oil level - but I don't know because I am not looking at it in your driveway.

F250 has 180,000 mi. According to the records, a long block was installed at 85,000 and the rear main seal was replaced at 152,000.

Forgot to say that the main seal was replaced in 2001.

Checked the dip stick, the oil level was about 1/2 inch above the line above "SAFE."
