Visit to Mike Chesser and Dennis Carpenter's

You all know I had talked about wanting to drive west on my 40th birthday in my ole truck'. Well I decided to visit my mom for a couple and then head up I-85 to Dennis Carpenter's. I had talked to Mike Chesser last week and he was very willing to have me stop by for a visit.

Mike Chesser's Auto Emporium - Lawrenceville, GA
Chesser's Dream Machine!

Man what a good guy. I have seen him over the years at the Nationals and he was always courteous. The guy spent about 1.5 hours touring me around his shop ground. Man it was SWEET. We talked air conditioning my favorite subject. He swapped some stories with me about his time in the business. His plans to attend the show in Knoxville this year just to see friends he normally only sees once a year and to see how the change in promoter worked. I had a good time. IF any of need parts or advice give him a call. He also sells new parts. I asked and he told me to take some photos if I wanted here are a few.

Me pulling up in my late Dad's Silverado.

One of the first thing you see when you go thru the entrance.

More good projects or at least parts

56 SW cab made into a BW cab. Quite drooling guys and Julie

BigWin took these photos for you. This was at least a F350.

55' F100 that was up on a lift

The suspension under the truck, 70's era Chevelle, which is similiar somewhat to what TRUXX has under his 56. Mike likes the way they ride and handle. Looked good and sturdy.

Couple of F1's

I know this is a Chevy but I liked it due to it's character and sleeper appearance. Sorta Kinda recommends me of how I wnat my truck to end up.

Check out the engine. Mike was getting it dialed in while I was there.
The firewall and interior have been painted charcoal gray and the truck has Vintage Heat and Air unit

Mid 50's Buick that Mike was also working on. Had a 502 as well.

Left Mike's and went up to Charlotte to Dennis Carpenter's this was sitting outside.

Also had a a chance to visit my F100-Crown Vic Suspension swap guru/mentor. 96 Crown Vic IFS and Rear end on a stock 56 Frame for a 56 BW project for a customer.

The wife and I visited Mikes place back in 95. We were on our "honeymoon" and I said honey let's go by and see this guy with all the trucks like mine. She agreed, thats one of the the reasons were still happily together. Mike was great too he showed us all around several buildings all with various trucks, cars and parts.

Customcab it wouldnt be that long of a drive for you.
ALBUQ F1 no pic with Dennis. I was to busy trying to find out what they had for "seconds" (Blems) that would fit a 53-56.
Brucelee what not much has changed then in regards to his generosity
Rodney I was on my best behavior. Even had on a good shirt and it was tucked in even.

VERY COOL Donald!! I've been friends with Mike since '93. He's a GREAT guy!! He's one of them guys like you Donald, you cant help but be good friends with instantly. He sure has some cool iron laying around. My wife is supposed to go to GA for her clinicals when she finishes her RN stuff and I was planning on going to Mike's while she's busy with all that stuff. Dont know exactly when that will be yet, but soon I hope.

Thanks for the cool pix Donald. That was almost as good as being there

I would love to live next door to this guy. I would have to be carefull driving past his house to keep from running into a tree while I'm rubber necking.

Great pictures! I bought my reverse tilt hood kit from Mike himself @ the Supernationals in 2006. Super nice guy. He didn't know me from squat but treated me like a long lost friend. Guys like him is what's RIGHT about this hobby. I may have changed my mind about going to Knoxville again this year after reading this. Thanks!
