I went to get my bottle filled & the guy gave my two choices... Frezze the bottle so it just sifones in .. or have it pumped in... They say its a cleaner fill if they dont use the pump.. Its the same price... What do you guys do ??? Lew
Lew, I never ran nitros but want to in the near future.Whats it take to set it up and how much time can you shave off?
Ya it took some time to set it up..They dont make a spray bar set up for the truck intake...So we used a NOS universal kit & added an other nozzle because of the intake tube & duel throtle body...So were running two nozzles one in each tube... Starting at 50 shot.... Then going to bump it to 100 shot....Useing a RPM window swich so the nitrous will only come on at full throtle from 3000-6000...Have the rev limiter set at 6200... Shif at 5900...Also useing a MSD timing box so we can retard the timing from inside the truck with the turn of a knob...When we went to spray it we started to lose fuel pressure so we shut it down...So not sure how much it did...Now we have to upgrade the fuel system thats why i was asking you about the fuel pump...When we get it up & running i will let you know how it comes out...Lew
I think I saw a kit that fits inbetween the upper /lower for Edeelbrock Performers
Ya they make spray bars for the edelbrock...holley...trickflow....ect....But there all mustang manifolds...I have a edelbrock truck manifold...I have talked to the tech guys at edelbrock & NOS....& they say none of them will work on that manifold.. Lew
Yeah, I talked to that idiot about if they had a water pump for my truck and he said that they did not have any and the mustang one wouldn`t work, but I got one and it works.I went to the speed shop yesturday to get a gasket for the upper/lower for my truck and the guy said that he didn`t have it,so I told him to look-up one for a mustang. He said they were completly different because the part numbers were different. The number is different only because the extra gasket for the side case is different not the upper /lower.So the NOS Big Shot wet system should fit.Thats the problem I`ve been dealing w/since I started on my `90, everybody makes stuff for Mustangs but not the trucks but alot of it w/interchange.
Ya i know what you mean...The mustangs are easy but the truck can be a pain...When it comes to parts.. The guy at edlbrock was good... I was on the phone with him for about 20 min while he got the mustang & truck manifold & tried different spray bars... The ports line up but one of the bolt holes dosnt...So i said i can just drill another hole but where the hole would be theres nothing there to drill..I would have to add on to the bar ....I did find out ...not 100% sure but the holley spray bar gasket lined up with the stock truck manifold..but not the edelbrock i have.. just that one hole is different...If you ever find one that will work let me know... Thanks Lew
you could always put a gob of jb weld where you need the other bolt then sand it level with the spray bar and drill it out....i fill the bottom of the intake runners on blue thunder manifolds with jb weld for FE engines all the time and have yet to have it break loose, i also have used jb weld to repair a broken valve cover bolt flange on an FE intake with no problems just sanded drilled and tapped like it was metal

That sounds interesting..I dont mind doing some fab work...Getting use to doing that...Im going to check into that a little more...If its only one hole that might work ...I would rather use the spray bar...

Nitrous is purchased by weight. Always use frozen bottles (most places have an exchange policy so you can take the cold one). ALWAYS weigh the bottle and verify you get the correct # of N2O. Add the weight you bought to the weight of the bottle.
Ok.... The frezze is better... Our tank is painted the same color as the truck so we cant do an exchange...So we just drop the bottle off...Come back in a few hrs..& they fill it while were there...& check it on the scale...$4.00 a pound....Thanks... Lew
We don't freeze our bottles. Has caused problems with the valves and gauges in the past. 5-gallon bucket of ice water and Morton salt will chill a bottle plenty cold for filling. You'll do better to pay attention to purging the fill valve and line from the big tank if you are worried about getting every last bit into the bottle.

Ok sounds good . They purge the line before filling..I dont have a bottle gauge i have a line that runs to an in dash gauge
