Man, that's a small turbo. I think you need one off a C15 Cat, or an N14 Cummins or something.

Oh, are you trying to make that 6 liter have some power?

If you got extra cash left, I have a 77 that could use some sponsorship.

Seems like some extensive work going one there. Did the turbo just shell out?

We intiallly found oil in the air tube coming from the intercooler. When Joe removed the turbo, he found a ton of play in the impeller shaft, and the oil seals were leaking.

Are you still under the factory warranty, or did you get an extended warranty?

Pat, good thing that it was caught while still under warranty. I bet that the bills would be prohibitive if you actually had to pay for it

It's still under warranty for the motor, 5 years, 100,000 miles. I know the turbo alone was around $2000!

that is kind of scary that your truck only has 33,000 miles and already has a major issue to be fixed.. is this common in the 6.0 fords? (i'm not a diesel guy if you couldn't tell)

Good question. I know Joe said the turbo he's putting on is a better model than the one if came with.

That's a bad deal. Just be glad the impeller wheel didn't decide to let go.

The timing of getting that induction cleaning last month was great. Who knows, if I hadn't gotten that done, would probably have never found this, and would have lost the turbo, probably at some incredibly inconvient time, like in the middle of our vacation this summer!

You caught that just in time. I don't think you would have made it another month, let alone summer vacation.

You should see what kind of damage a blown turbo will make.
