'56 info?

Anyone have any links or documents with information regarding the '56? I'm looking for just about anything, especially what parts it has in common with the other years, as well as different sizes of the same year (in other words what of an F-600 is different than an F-100)

Especially interested in F-600 info, seems hard to come by and my googling has turned up little.

Thanks

I have alot of 56s....and it has been said before but here goes.....the front bumper on a f600 wraps around the cab more than a f100 bumper.
The cab and doors and glass and most all the parts on the cab are the same as f100.
The front fenders are 4-5'' or so larger in the arc area/ and will fit an f100 but are made for the f600.
Of course the frames are larger on f600.
Mirrors are generally largeer on f600,but not necessarily.
I have pics in my gallery of some of my 56f600s and also my 56f100s....look and see what you need.Bill

Easy way to tell if cab is a f600 is it will have the breather tube and breather inside the cab near the drivers side by the gastank,,and the vacuum tubing ,etc located on the firewall .

Hi Stephen,

Well, what you are asking for is readily available, but could probably fill volumes.

I would suggest if there is something a little more specific you are looking for, you use the search function here at FTE.

It's on the index page for this forum, in the upper right hand corner - labeled "Search This Forum" you should be able to find info on just about any thing you want.

Also, I have a paperback book I bought that is very informative and wasn't too expensive.

It describes the evolution up to the 56 (48-56) and have some great info on characteristics and options. The book is: "Ford F-Series Pick-up Trucks 1948-1956" by Donn Bunn, ISBN-10:0-7603-0483-1.

Good luck

Go to this website: http://www.clubfte.com/users/earl/index.html

It was made by George a prolific contributor here that we have not heard of much lately, it is called Earl's world. He was rebuilding a 56 F-250 but he had materials on others as well. Click on reference materials for some pics.

Ah, thanks for the info guys, much appreciated. I was in a research mood with a tired head but was looking for anything so I didn't know what to search. I realize now I mainly wanted what parts where unique to a F-600 verse a F-100.

Thanks again
