? more hp on 92 f150 efi 302?

Hey I have a 1992 4x4 ford f150 shortbed 302 efi with 5spd trans 70,000 miles, and I was wondering what are some things I could do to get alittle more hp, some things you can do with out any major mods or a bunch work and money I was thinking around $500 thanks

Start by getting an exhaust system. Get a set of headers, long tubes are best, but as long as you replace the y-pipe shorties are fine to. Next get rid of you cat if you do not have emissions testing or replace it with a high-flow unit if you do. Run 2.5 inch pipes up until your y-pipe and 2.5" or 3" after. Then get a good high flow air filter like a K&N and replace your stock air intake tube with one from a truck with the 300 I6 or 460. You can find this plastic tube at junkyards for cheap, or at Silver State Ford Parts Genuine Ford Truck Parts Lincoln Mercury Parts OEM Ford Parts and Accessories for about $25. Do not buy a "cold air intake", these are garbage, all they do is suck in hot air from under the hood and make more noise.

Before doing any performance mods, do a good tune up with Motorcraft plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. Change fuel filter and make sure your ignition timing is set around 10-12 degrees. Then run the codes to check for any problems and fix anything that comes up. Good luck.
