soft topper or fiberglass cap??
im thinking of doing a cap for my 91, i like the canvas soft topper caps for the fact that its retractable in less then 2 mins by yourself if i needed to haul something bigger then the cap allows, but at the same time i like the look of the fiberglass caps too?? or should i just leave the toneau cover on?? either cap i go with would be black btw.

well the only reason i am leaning towards a cap is im always needing to haul something it seems and with the toneau it makes it hard cause even tho its a soft toneau it has the gas struts so it lifts like a hard cover only 1/2 way up. i find myself using the minivan always to haul cause the seats fold into the floor and its simpler. with a cap it would be easier to haul, i dunno??

Look in LMC they have a soft cover that rolls up and the bows can be removed and it's on a frame so it'll lift up like a hard cover. that's the one i'm gonna buy, it seems easier than a hard top. i've had a fiberglass cap on mine the only use i see im them is when you want to go camping and it's extra weight on the back tires. With a cap you have to hassle with takeing it on and off it do anything. that's why mine is sitting in the backyard till someone buys it. the tonneau cover in LMC is only $454.70. Just my 2 cents

my soft toneau is made by lebra, and its a lift up or you can roll it up if needed and the bows just pop out but its a pain to roll it IMO especially with my truck, the top of the bed is a hair over 6ft tall,loL!, think i paid $250 for it through summit racing. the soft topper is like $700 shipped, fiberglass is like $1k. the thing i like about the softtopper is it folds back up against the back wall of the truck in about 1min by yourself if you didnt want to use it. and fully removeable in less then 2mins?? there homepage shows one going up and back to see the diff, Softopper - Pickup Truck Toppers, Camper Shells & Caps - Ford, Chevy, Toyota, Dodge & More ive seen a lifted 97+ f350 with one when i googled it but i cant find it again, looked pretty good though i thought.

OMG... You need to make a choice then because every time you set foot in a minivan your manhood is taking a shot!! A fiberglass cap can look nice if it's color matched to the truck, had one on my '89 that looked real sharp. Current truck has a cheap soft tonneau cover than rolls up to allow larger items, but you then have to store the cross beams so it's a bit of a hastle. I like the looks of a truck with a tonneau cover but you can't argue with the functionality of the cap.

Doesn't say in your profile where you live, but around here a pick-up with out a topper is a good way to soak anything you put back there. If you plan on hauling anything you dont want to get wet, a topper can sure look good and serve a real needed purpose. Go with fiberglass with windows.(visibility)

Oh I won't argue with the convienence and functionality they provide.. I have this illogical distain for them for some reason. Besides... seems kinda silly to take that to HD for lumber instead of that nice manly truck you have.
