Fuel tank sump mod - eliminates pick-up tube
Found this while surfing ..............
It is a flanged fitting that bolts onto the bottom of your fuel tank. It provides a "sump" for your fuel so that you can feed your fuel pump from the sump rather than from the "pick-up" tube. This appears to be a solution to a number of add-on pumps (and add-on suction tubes) that have problems picking up fuel when the tank is below 1/4.
Might be a little pricey at $175, but it looks sweet.

Installation requires a 3 inch hole drilled in the bottom of the fuel tank and the drilling of 10 bolt holes. The connection for the fuel line is 1/2 inch. Seems folks have been using this design in other trucks for some time (years I believe) without leakage.

well unless they come with wrenches to do so thats not so easy, and if they cut the fuel line than its cheaper to change the line than a tank.that would have to be one smart ahole to figure it out whats is that, and chances are that you would still end up with a hole next to a sump LMAO....

As far as thieves go, I would think a syphon hose is pretty standard equipment. If anyone wants fuel from you, they will get it.
This is definitely not a mod to go out and do for no reason. For me, if I spent the big bucks and installed a FASS fuel system and then could not drive the vehicle when the tank got down to 1/4 full (some have even reported problems at 1/2 full), I would be upset. Lack of suction may very well be a major reason that a number of the aftermarket pumps burn up.

It appears the fuel tank still would have to be dropped to replace the pump is my asumption correct? Looks to be very well built. I think I would turn the hose outlet towards the rear to protect it from being hit and broken off... Especially since it just lowered the ground clearance a bit.

First thought is clearly about leaks. The more I read, the more I found that they did not leak (clearly the assumption is a proper install). There just isn't any pressure to speak of in a diesel fuel tank.
