problems
Ok so I bought a 99 ext cab 4x4 ranger and it has 146,000 on the ole 3.0. latley I have been having a couple problems.
1. when stoped or rolling slowly ( like trying to paraell park) and the wheel is at turned all the way eigther direction, the oil pressure gauge goes nuts. jumps from no pressure to half way repeditely. it will do it until I back off the stering wheel a little. no idea what that is about
2. when rolling down the highway after about 10 min, the temp gauge starts to read hot not in the red but close enough to scare me. coolant is going somewhere but not even a drip on the garage floor and oil looks good, but the resevoir is empty. any ideas? Also when i stop the temp goes back down half way. <!-- / message --> <!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --> <!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --> <!-- controls -->

Don't turn the wheel all the way to the lock and hold it!! If you have to turn tight bump
the stop and turn back a few degrees before accelerating.
Get a vacuum gauge and do a vac test, check this out for what the needle readings
mean. Performance Probe
Do a compression test and see if it is showing a low cylinder. I just did the head
gaskets on my probe and number 6 was leaking into the coolant I had 170 on the
others and 140 on 6. Does your exhaust put out alot of steam/water? If you can't
see the water/coolant then put a cardboard box in front of the exhaust and see how
wet it gets.
