The crankshaft line at ESSEX plant is suppling crankshafts to the Romeo engine plant and has been since late 2008. Where all these 6.2l cranks and the engines they are going into are to be used has puzzled me for a while. After seeing the pictures of the Harley Davidson F150 with a 6.2l now I know where some are going. I guess Ford's plans are now to sneak these engines out to the public without a lot of fanfare. The company wants to keep the "green" look and the press will probably jump on the 6.2l introduction. Ford would be happier if the press keeps focus on the Fusion Hybrid, and Ford's upcoming electric vehicles.

The "burst" went out the before the first of the year. Probably 1000 cranks were sent out, maybe more. They continue too keep sending crankshafts to Romeo until the Romeo crankshaft line is up and running.
I have heard various dates to start. Trucks are going down the line at Rouge Truck with 6.2 V8'S in them. They are in training to get everything right for the launch which may be late fall. You know when you see one with a 6.2 because of the tail pipes and the sound. Really depends on when they start 2010 build. I have heard November, but not positive about that. The market is really straining production planning. That's about all I know at this time.

All I have seen are F-150's. I have seen a test mule F-350 with the 6.7 diesel running around. Kentucky Truck Plant is down until next week for conversion to allow for Navigator/ Expedition build at KTP. The change also allows for 6.2l installation in vehicles. I have not heard when 6.2 will be available in Superduty. I am assuming that the Navigator will be first to get the 6.2 as that was the original plan.

I have seen where Romeo Engine is calling the 6.2 engine line the "6.2L Super Duty" line. The 5.0 coyote line at Essex has been told the "power on" is set for June 20th and Job One is December 2, 2009. The way everything is going as of now both engines should be available for start of 2010.

I would think they would want to show off the numbers for this engine. I mean Ford seems to have the image of the "slow truck" you'd think they would want to dispute that image with this 6.2l.
The Romeo engine plant will be building engines on the 6.2l line for June and July. I do not know if they will be taking the traditional "summer shutdown". After that the line will be running. I am not sure which trucks are first in line but I still believe the Navigator, Raptor, Harley F150, then Super duty and F150. The Cleveland block line for the 5.4 will be shut for good in another month. The casting plant will start shutdown, and trades will get the place ready for the final closing. The 5.0 "coyote" line is being assembled quickly as machines show up almost every day. 5.0 production is still set for after Thanksgiving 2009.
