No. The bellhousings are NOT different. That doesn't make any sense at all. The bellhousing has to match the engine, so if the engine is the same the bellhousing MUST be the same or they won't bolt together.

I know, I know. I am repeating hearsay. However, I was told that the bolt pattern was different. I don't know if that is true. So I said I couldn't verify.

But the OP can.

OP: Please post all the differences you come across if you don't mind.

So can Mark.

In one breath you call him an expert, then in another you doubt his info and ask the OP to confirm who is correct? That's kind of a slap in the face my friend.

Think about it Tim. Ford isn't going to make a different 7.3L PSD block with a different transmission bellhousing pattern for the vans. It's going to be the same block with the same bolt pattern as the 7.3's Ford put in the trucks.

But the OP can.

OP: Please post all the differences you come across if you don't mind.
Also, please remember this thread was recently revived. It's 4 1/2 years old.

Instead of making a new thread I though that this one would pertain to my exact situation. I am doing a 4x4 van using a ujoint offroad kit and am trying to assemble all the necessary parts, upgrades, and knowledge before tearing into the 4r100 in order to convert the Van's 2wd to 4wd. I am using the NV271 transfer case.

The van is a 99 e350 with 6 inches of lift and a 7.3 that will be running on 35's

The following is what I have considered for the trans rebuild

trans rebuild kit of some sort (preferences anyone)
sonnax kit SC-4R100HD or similar or the 4R100-HD2 Tugger
new output shaft for 4x4
tail housing for 4x4
torque converter

If I am missing anything let me know.

Thanks

Hoat
