Sticking clutch, help needed

Hey all,
I’ve got a 2001 4.6 V8 with manual transmission. The last couple days I’ve experienced problems with my clutch. The truck starts fine but then won’t shift into first or reverse. Feels like there’s a loss of clutch pressure. The pedal is pretty slack. The problem goes away when it gets warmer, and the truck appears to drive fine. The issue is isolated to when the truck first starts.
My understanding is that the clutch is lubricated by the engine oil. Am I wrong? Do I need to add fluid somewhere? Not sure if this is a coincidence, but I changed my oil on Sunday and the problem began appearing Monday. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it to work today....

i know on my old ranger and boss's 96 the clutch resevoir is up by the brake booster and brake resevoir on the fire wall, as far as the newer ones i'm not sure but assume there the same, ive never heard of the oil coming from the engine but i don;t know, anyway if nothing else this will get you back to the top and maybe someone else will have an idea good luck

As firefighter says there is a small clutch fluid reservoir on the firewall to the left of the brake booster and master cylinder reservoir. It sounds like you may have a problem with the clutch slave cylinder, an all too common problem sorry to say and not cheap to fix. The slave cylinder repair is "complicated" as it's buried in the clutch/tranny assembly. My 1989 F-150 went through 3 clutch slave cylinders and my 2002 had one replaced at only 19,000 miles. Not one of Ford's better designs needless to say. Engine oil is not part of the clutch system.

I got exactly the same problem. I have a 99 4x4 4.6 5sp and it has 185,000 on the clock and I am currently on the third slave cylinder and the second master cylinder and it is almost impossible to get it in first or reverse til it warms up. The clutch has been replaced twice but I have yet to wear out a disc and pressure plate, I just replaced them each time they went into it for the slave. I hope the slave is not going again!
