Security...Layers Of Protection
I am going to put in a kill switch....real soon...like this weekend. I am very seriously considering a Ravelco. I would also like to put in an alarm of some sort...I do not want a system that goes off when the wind blows....but............something more for the visual (flashing lights) and the noise factor (Horn Blowing).......any suggestions?

If you set up an alarm properly, the shock sensor does not go off unless the truck is hit. Mine is enough you can't drop the tailgate (free fall) or shut it without triggering the alarm, however the loudest motorcycle in town only trips the first stage. The first stage flashes the light and chirps the siren, and it sends my 2way remote an alert.
Most Remote starts have a starter disable and it's very easy to add to any alarm that lacks it. The real key to any of this is the quality of the install. Most thieves are going to look to the left of the column for the brain. Hide that sucker. The longer it takes you to install it because of a difficult location, the long it will take someone to bypass it. Take the dash part and mount it above/behind the cluster or under the glove box or under the radio, somewhere difficult. Then run your wires up high, where you can't really get to them from under the dash and wrap them up in tape.
That said, after my compustar P2W100FM, I am going to have two way remotes from now on. It's nice to be paged when the alarm goes off (and I am with in 3000' of my truck.) The compustar also has a paging sensor so people can tap on the sensor and page me. The sensor can also be configured to unlock the doors incase you lock your keys inside using a special code.
