Looking For Skid Plates

Im looking for skid plates for my 08 Lariat 150. Anyone know where i can pick up some aftermarket, or even factory skid plates? I know some ordered trucks came with plates, unfortunatly mine did not. any direction is welcome. thanks

Stock skid plates are pretty useless.....other than keeping branches from scratching the underside....they don't offer much actual protection...

i was more or less expecting that type of response and i understand why, fact is the stock plates are cheap **** with little thought put into them but they are better then nothing. So the question now becomes where can i find some easy fitting plates to give myself a little oil pan protection, trans and transfer case protection. I could go through the hassle of making my own in a buddies machine shop but id rather take the easy way out....My truck tends to see alot of fields and woods both for farm and hunting.....and construction sites at work and i need that little extra insurence from those stones stumps and branches.

I've never found any stock skid plates or aftermarket ones for that matter that are worth anything....they're all like .125 aluminum or thinner steel.....If you don't want to do it.....go get a custom fabricator to do it.....aftermarket plates (the good aluminum ones) will run you 300 or more anyhow...and for that you should be able to get some very very good custom ones made...

well i think we over looked the needs for his skid plates ...if he was plaining to go hard core offroading the factroy one are not strong enough but his needs are geared at smaller stuff like stumps rocks and branch laying in a field and anything larger he might think about avoiding driving over

i have done some good wheeling in my truck and bottomed out the frame a few times skid plates are fine and did their job

Sure...they'd probably be fine....but you can get a much better set built for the cost of a stock set...plus the stock ones don't cover a whole lot...

I agree with the both of ya.....I only need a little protection from small stuff kicking up, and im sure as hell not doing any hard core off roading with this girl, ive got plenty of other beaters laying aroudn the yard that we beat the **** out of. And i realize i could have someone fab or fab myself some honkin plates from sheet stock for much cheaper and probably better quality. I was shootin for someone out there who might have had a set taken off, or a wreck with plates. Plus, i really dont know how they mount up on this truck, guess i better go find one and crawl under it and check it out a little more.

thats my next move, ive got a friend of my fathers whos a junk yard guy, he should be able to track down a set. I guess it brings up a new swing on the question though....will plates from all years in the 08 style fit? meaning from 04 to 08 being all the same...i lean on the side of yes.
