1993 F150 4x4 XLT 5.0

Well around December of '07 I picked this up from a local company we sub from here in beautiful Bozeman, MT.

1993 Ford F150 4X4 XLT 5.0 EFI 5-Speed Standard Cab Long Box
Picked up this great truck for only $1400 with about 174k on it.
Rack alone sells for $600 new.
Anyways, I put quite a bit of miles on it this year and finally the motor really started eating oil and running terrible.
I just pulled the motor out last week.

Then I took it to my Dad so he could tear it all down.
He mic' ed the cam at around 392 thousandths.
The #5 push rod was bent.
Cam bearings were actually worn.
He also discovered that two of the cross drilled holes in the crank were completely clogged with a red plastic-like material?

As for the condition of the truck the interior is really nice, probably a 3 out of 5.
Dash is cracked, seats are nice but some trim is cracked.

Exterior is pretty rough. All trim except the PS door XLT Chrome strip is missing. I pulled it off because it was peeling off real bad.
PS of the bed has been wrecked into something hard. Between the door and the wheel well is the worst part.
Cab and front end have been re-sprayed. Roof is peeling really bad.

I'm doing a stock rebuild for now. Just going to fab up a snorkel and stuff.

I'll post up the future plans later!

Here's some photos from the other night!
Before photo.

After some hard work with a combo of these:

The final product looked like this.

And a side by side.

3 to go.

Here's the bay before I started cleaning it today.

And here are my injectors.
They just came back from being cleaned and flow tested by WitchHunter Performance. WitchHunter Performance - Injector Cleaning & Flow Testing Services
For $18/each they clean and flow, replace filters, replace pintle caps, and o-rings. WELL worth it.

And here's the data sheet.

And here's the pile of parts that is accumulating.

And then today the Summit Santa came early!

True dual exhaust.
Headers and the rest will be here tomorrow.

Oh and here's a better before and after, a bit more clear.

Don't have the money to buy one of these Dynomax Performance 88313 - Dynomax Header Reducers - summitracing.com

So I guess I'll drill it out and weld a bung in.

Found yet another reason the truck ran like ****.
After/Before

Engine is finally back and assembled!

Another wheel all cleaned up.

What does this go to?

Still need to get this piece and a new cable so my E-brake works again.

Interior shot as it sits now.

Crappiest first time rebuild day ever.

Can you spot the problem?

How about now?

That right!
At this stage right here,

I noticed I put the dang splash shield between the flywheel and the engine on UPSIDE EFFING DOWN!

So now I have to wait until Monday, go rent the cherry picker again, pull it out, pull the entire clutch assembly, and flip it around, then re-install it!
Oh well, I guess it could be worse haha.
Hopefully it will be back up and running on Tuesday or so.

Otherwise, it was a great last couple of days!

Thanks man, I love this truck.

Wait a second, I'm not that big of an idiot. I didn't put it on upside down, I just have it on the alignment pegs wrong! I can probably shimmy the engine out a bit, bend the tabs out with a screwdriver, and rotate the pan enough to re-align the holes! Wish me luck tomorrow! Oh, and it's Murphy's fault. He did it!

The tranny was actually just hung up so it wasn't lining up! Whew, was I happy to discover that when I crawled under there today.
Should be running tomorrow!
Yesterday was too long of a day, today went much smoother!

As for future plans, I'll have to post later!

Right now I just want to snorkel it because the stock snorkel does nothing but suck in rain around here! I just want a comfortable trail truck to get around in Montana, get to work, go climbing, and adventure up the most gnarly trails without getting too much money into it right now.
It's more or less a work truck!

The camera was too close so the loudest noises didn't get picked up.
HOWEVER, the fiance is getting a new video camera for her birthday on Patty's so I'll have some great footage then up on YouTube.

Now all that's left is:
* Fix the coolant temperature sending unit that broke off.
* Get the last 7 header bolts from Dynomax. (They Mis-packaged with half 3/8's and half 5/16's.)
* Mount or have exhaust mounted.
* Weld O2 sensor bung into collector.
* Lengthen O2 sensor wiring.
* Install new interior DS door handle.
* Find out where to re-route EGR to.
* Eliminate all excess vacuum lines.

EGR delete kit should be here next week then I can actually take it on a drive!
