1960 4x4 front leaf spring
Replacing the spring shackles today I discovered that one of my leaf springs broke at some point in its life and was welded back... well that explains the body lean.
So my question is where on earth could I find a salvaged spring that doesn't cost a fortune??
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

If you do find a used spring, it will be worn and sagging just like the springs you have now, so it won't solve the problem.
What you should do is replace both front springs at the same time.
The 4WD front spring used on 1959/60 F100 4WD's is the same one 1959/60 F250 4WD's used.
COTT5310B .. Front Leaf Spring Assy. / 8 Leafs / 1200 lb. Load Rating / Obsolete
Fits: 1959/60 F100/250 4WD.
If I were you, I'd replace both of the old front springs with new springs which can be found from several aftermarket companies like JC Whitney.

Thanks for the info. I looked through JC Whitney and even asked the little chat sales guy, but they didn't have the front springs. I noticed that you had a part number there, where would i reference that?
I agree that changing both is wise, the question is where to find them new that doesn't cost a fortune (I.E. "classic" part prices)
Thanks.

Hey Dood
Ask yourself how long you plan on having this truck. Those springs are close to 50 years old. All the ones you get from the wrecking yard will be around the same age. Which means they will have the same amount of wear and fatigue.
I would "spring" for a new set…. Mine only cost me a lil under 650.00 bucks. That was for all four, brand new with new U bolts, bushings and shackles and all new hanger bolts and nuts. I got mine from a spring shop here in Seattle. They were all made to the Ford specs and fit perfect.
I am sure a new set of front springs only would be at least half that… Maybe even less if all your mounting hardware is intact.
