250 Vs 350 fuel economy

I'm shopping for a truck. Is there a significant difference between an F250 or F350 on fuel consumption? Considering same type of cab, bed length and 4X4.

If its the same gearing, not much at all! The 350 sits alittle higher, alittle more air drag thats about it! Only real difference is 2 more " of block between the axle and springs on the rear, and maybe X code springs in the front.I think?? Others will join in soon! And welcome to FTE!! Can learn alot here! I know I sure did....

F-250's and F-350's are pretty much identical. Different height rear blocks and different badging are about all you'll see. The configuration of a truck will have more of an effect on mileage than anything else (4x4, 2x4, regular cab, supercab, crew cab, short bed, long bed, automatic, manual, SRW, DRW.... the list of options goes on and on).

Like Ronnie said they are about the same its all in the gearing if they are both SRW then they are the same trucks just slightly bigger blocks. Though if the F-350 is a dually with 4.10s then your MPGs will drop off a bit. As long as you can keep your foot out of it and run below 2K you'll have great MPGs. Also it depends on if you have a stick or an auto that makes a big difference in your MPGs. But like Curtis said it also depends on your cab and truck set up. A Regular cab long bed stick will get better MPGs then a Crew Cab long bed auto.

I believe the X codes were only on the Snow plow packages Ronnie I don't believe it mattered which truck it was on.

I also believe the blocks in the back are only 1 inch different. The F250 has a 2 and a half inch block, and the F350 has a 3 and a half incher in there, stock.

The short blocks I put under mine where 2" vs the 3 3/4" that was on there from stock. At least on mine, there was 1 3/4" difference in the height of the block.

If driven identically, I can't see any reason that you wouldn't get virtually identical mileage.
