lead additives

Does anyone still use this product if so, where do you get it?
Autozone, etc.(product brand name)
I have an engine that has been sitting for a long time (leaded fuel)I need to run it for a while to see if it's worth a rebuild. I was using Alemite CD-2 when it was in use, also have a bottle that I have had for about 10 years, unopened, was wondering if it was still good. Or something that will work as good, only need to run engine for a short time, maybe put back in service if product is still available.

Any help is appreciated, thanks...Bill

I believe those additives are still around, just can't think of where to get. I'm not sure I would use anything from a 10 yr. old can, the chemicals inside have probably changed. Later.

Autozone carries the "gunk" brand. Its called "lead substitute" it was 3.99 when i bought some yesterday. one bottle treats 20 gallons. Most auto parts stores carry it, i believe Wal-Mart carries the same brand too, its in the additive section.

Several years ago I had a carb rebuilt by Pony Carbs. They were supposed to be the best for autolite carbs. I asked them about lead additives, and they said unless your racing it hard it's not necessary. they claim all the lead additives do is gunk up the carbs.

I've been running unblended gas for the last several years and maybe every other tank, I'll put in a can of Seafoam. Knock on wood, but so far I haven't ha any troubles.
