4x4 90 f250

i just bought a 1990 F250 4x4 when i put it in 4 wheel drive low or hi with hubs set to lock i get nothing just rear wheels spin the felow i bought it from says that i am not shifting it right i get it in low 4 wheel and 2 wheel and nutreal still no frt drive is there something wrong with the transfer case like a chain or something
i am open to any ideas thanks in advance

First, with hubs unlocked, put the Tcase into 4x4. Then, crawl under the truck, and try and spin the front driveshaft with your hand. If it does not spin, the tcase is working.
Next, put the Tcase into 2hi, and lock the hubs. Crawl under and try and spin the driveshaft again. If it does not spin the hubs are working. If it spins, look at each wheel end, and see what side axleshaft is also spinning. (drivers or passengers) this will tell you which hub needs to be taken apart and looked at

is the front drive shaft in it?

no 4x4

thanks for the info blue yes the front shaft is in (i think) will check the fellow told me that he had it in four wheel drive but i think he is not telling me the truth i will check out what you said in the morning if its not snowing (have no garage at present time )

blue will it make a difference if its auto or stick as it is a automatic thanks again
