Wiring Question

On a 1990 F-350 Crewcab XLT Lariat an 8 amp fuselink fried the other day and the truck would not start. On start up was when the link failed. After bypass it would only crank. There is no 8 amp fuse link in any of the schematics I can find. They show the other 3 on the vehicle but not that one. Any ideas on where to start would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to FTE.

Have you checked the fuses yet? Might have popped a fuse along the way.

Diesel or gas?

If this 8amp fuse is located in the fuse panel under the dash, look at the diagram for the panel and determine what circuit it is protecting. Maybe a previous owner went to a larger size fuse instead of fixing the problem.
Good luck Frank

It is a gasoline engine, and haven't had a chance to have a good look at the fuses yet but gave that some thought and maybe thought it could have blown a relay too. Just wierd that it isn't listed on the diagrams along with the other fusible links.

Any and all help is appreciated!

most of the fusable links are at the starter solonoid, where the battery wire connects to the solonoid, on the battery side of the truck. I would probe the wires about a foot away from the solonoid and see which one dont have power. Then cut out and either replace with another fuseable link or put in a fuse holder and get a fuse for it
