Head unit removal

I was attempting to pull the surround from the head unit to see if I have provision for the audiophile harness. I'm pulling from the bottom but I'm not real comfortable pulling real hard. How durable is the plastic surround. I'd hate to break it.

Personally I took a small screwdriver and pried it from the top. It shouldn't be too difficult to get out. What you should worry about are the snaps that might get stuck. If you go slowly and pull gently you shouldn't have any problems.

It's very scary. Not my first encounter with plastic trim panels and they all seem like they're going to break the first time you remove them. But this thing is a bit more obstinate.
