Noticed my cables could use replacing when Both Batteries were dead. Problem is its a Dual battery system with a Pos. Cable thats about 6 feet long. Unk if I have a single or Dual alternator..Would the second one be noticeable? First ones right on the top. Secondly...My battery light stays on even after replacing both batteries but the charge needle (If thats what it is)..Is pretty much in the middle of the 8 and 18. putting it at about 12.5...Can the alternator still be bad or the needle says its good? My questions are...Is alternator bad? Do I have 1 or 2 alternators and where would second one be? If 2 alternators do you do them both?.ALSO...Is that a single battery cable that runs to both batteries on Pos. terminal??????

 

1. if your battery light is on then yes your alt. is bad
2. you prob only have the single set up (the second one would be lower left/passenger side
of the eng.)

 

The second alt. would be on the passenger's side and should be easily visible from the bottom. Sounds like your alt. is bad... it's not unheard of for a bad alt. to take the batteries out with it.
As for the battery cable- you can either make your own or buy a new OEM one from Ford.
