Come to think of it, the Raptor would be a blast in the ore mines. The roads have 24' elevation differances.

Actually, you can build yourself one of these monsters for a lot less than that, and be MORE capable than the Raptor:

Raptor to start at $38,995

Finally some definative pricing reports.

"Mike Levine of PickupTrucks.com is currently embedded in an F-150 SVT Raptor R with the Ford Racing Team at the "Terrible 250" in Primm, Nevada. Being that close to the action, Levine has managed to wrest some hard info about the upcoming production SVT Raptor from Ford. The off road-ready half-ton will start at just $38,995, which may sound like a lot until you consider this desert flier will be only about $3,000 more than a well-equipped F-150 FX4. The SVT Raptor will launch with Ford's 5.4-liter V8, but soon after will be joined by the company's new 6.2-liter V8, as well. The truck certainly isn't for everyone with its huge tires, high suspension and compensating-for-something "FORD" grille, but those who do go for that kind of thing will at least not get gouged at the checkout counter."

2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor starts at $38,995

Not bad considering the huge capability of the Raptor.

Color me impressed.

That's a very fair price from the factory. However, often times when a special vehicle hit's a dealer's lot, the dealer is authorized by FMC to charge a "regional" surcharge or simply up the price and get what he can get for it. I see this happening with the Raptor.

Here's another article.
2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Starts at $38,995 - PickupTrucks.com News

The Raptor with the new 6.2L is goint to be priced at $41,995.

"Let a thousand Raptors bloom! Ford shared pricing for the 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor during last night's drivers prep meeting at the "Terrible's 250 at Primm" off-road race.
The starting price for the 320 horsepower, 390 lbs.-feet of torque 5.4-liter V-8 is a remarkably low $38,995, including destination charges. There are additional charges for unique Raptor option packages, including: the luxury package ($1,995) with 10-way power leather heated front seats, power adjustable pedals and a Sony audio system; the exterior graphics package ($1,075) with "digital mud" decal; and the interior accent package ($395) with orange seat inserts and orange mesh trim on the dashboard and doors. The 5.4-liter Raptor is expected to go on sale this summer.
The premium 6.2-liter V-8 Raptor will start at $41,995, with the same option package pricing as the 5.4-liter V-8. Power is estimated to be 400 hp and 400 lbs.-feet of torque. The 6.2-liter Raptor is expected to go on sale this winter.
Follow along with us this weekend as we ride in the Ford Raptor R race truck during the Terrible's 250.
Ford is expected to make an official pricing announcement after this weekend's race."
