Anyone wish to share their dry wash designs / ideas?
We currently pump our bio into a 60 gallon cone bottom tank that we use for water washing. If magnesol is added to the bio and mechanically stirred, will it be able to come out the 3/4 inch outlet, or will it need to go into another tank before it gels?

Sure Most people put it into a open tank, and let it settle, then decant the clean bio off the top, and then scoop out the "mud" from the tank when it builds up.

I use a different system ( go figure!). I use a diaphragm pump, and force it through 3 filters. I start with a 50 micron, then a 25 micron, then a 5 micron. For a final filter I use a 1 micron absolute.

 

Wonder how far up I would need to put a standpipe in the barrel to drain of as much as I can before decanting?

I dont know if a standpipe is a good idea because the current generated as the BD is drawn off may stir up the magnesol.
In this case I would attemp to remove BD from the surface, possibly with a pump.

 

It was problematic.........Required constant adjustment. I now "power filter" it through canister/bag filters with an air powered diaphragm pump.

Googled Magnesol since nothing on EBAY except filters. looks like fryer... and Dallas group are the only sources? Cheapest I found was ~89 bucks for 45 lbs + shipping. Is this the best deal?

 

I can get it to you for half that price...............As long as you buy 40,000 lbs.

Isn't the same stuff that restaurants use to pollish their oil? If so, would a foods supplier have it? We use it at church during our fish frys.

 

Same company (Dallas Group) Different product. Magnesol was made just for Biodiesel.

 

Is it similiar in properties? I know the oil I get from the fish frys is incredibly clean. Also, right before our school took out its deep fryers they used the product and it transformed previously unusable oil to VERY clean oil. Just wondering.

 

what is the ratio that is needed per gallon of bio that has had the methanol distilled out of it? Saw 8 oz. packages for under 2 bucks and thought that I would get just enough to treat a batch to show my partner and try and talk him into dry-washing.
