Rancho QuikLift

I installed the front QuickLift shocks on my F-150 yesterday and was able to do it with a heavy duty set of spring compressors. I finished a bit late last night fighting with the front Hellwig bar I installed on the front along with the shocks, so I can't give any driving impression. I'll get it aligned this morning. I took a few pics I'll have to download and post later.

Essentially, the bottom spring pad is moved up about an inch from the stock position. The springs are also pre-loaded moreso than the stock springs and increases the spring rate which also helps to achieve the lift. I seem to have gotten close to 2.5" out of it, but I'll measure again in a few days after everything has settled.

I also installed a set of the 9000XLs in the rear. I purchased the remote controller, but I knew I didn't have enough time to install that yesterday along with the shocks. That's a project for another weekend. If anyone has a F-150 with adjustable shocks and the remote installed, did you install the rear shocks with the air line facing the axle? It appears there's room and would be safer routing for the air lines.

Here's a couple of shots of struts and a before and after picture so you can get an idea of the lift you'll get out of the Rancho QuikLift.

Here are the OEM strut and Rancho strut side by side. The travel bumpers are flush with the collar stop where the upper flage attaches and you can see the Rancho affords a little more travel than the stock shock.

Here is the strut mounted on the truck. The upper control arm does not contact the spring on full droop. The adjustment **** is the red dot near the bottom of the shock.

Here is the truck just prior to the install.

Here is a pic from this morning, roughly a week after the install.

I have this setup on my truck.. about 7K miles now. Superb! Because Rancho's parent company, Tenneco (Monroe), does a lot of shock production for the OEM, they are really well versed in ride tuning and getting everything right. I've seen their development facility in Monroe, MI, and it's a gearhead paradise.

I set the adjustment **** at 5 front and rear, and I'll be hooking up the remote in a few weeks so I can experiment with different settings. I'm pretty pleased with them at this point. I had the RS5000s on my old Bronco with Rancho's 3" lift and that was a well designed set up. I've been through my big rubber days and the largest tire I forsee will be 33", so the lift phase is DONE.
