Most do NOT recommend towing a 5th wheel with a gooseneck hitch. Do a search in this forum for many posts about it.

If you have a B&W you can purchase a Companion hitch. Its a fifthwheel hitch that uses the existing B&W mounting hardware, and allows you to remove it just as easily as removing the gooseneck ball, and allows you to swap back and forth between the two types.

What type of goose neck do you have now? I used to have an adapter made by colibert, it worked really well for the first trailer I had. Then when I bought the trailer I have now I just wasn't comfortable with the adapter. It probably would have worked without any problems. But I could just see the pin box folding up and and coming through the back of the cab. The problem with the adapter is it changes stress points on the trailer frame. I have a b&w goose neck ball hitch with the companion adapter that actually puts a 5th wheel hitch in the bed. If you have a b&W turn over ball already, i'd highly recommend going with the companion for a 5th wheel.

i had the Reese Gooseneck plate that pins down right to the Reese Rails in the truck. I could switch hitches back and forth with just 4 pins to switch them. Neat setup.

Most fifthwheel manufactures will void your RV frame warrantee if you use a gooseneck adapter.

Good luck
