Added a Toyota to the stable...

...but this time it's not a car or truck, or a quad or anything else fun. Well, I guess a forklift can be fun...yes, I'm buying a forklift! It's a mid-'70s (I'm guessing) Toyota, about 4K lbs. capacity, pneumatic tires. Everything is there except the carb, and the owner says that's around somewhere, he'll look for it. Says it ran when parked, but the carb was junk and they couldn't find a kit for it. Bought a new forklift anyway so they retired this one, been sitting about two years. Tires are decent, hydraulic hoses are good, about the only thing that's trashed is the seat. And the best thing is the price...200 bucks!

This isn't it, but it's almost exactly the same:

I can't wait to go lift some stuff!

That would have been handy back September with the cab swap. Have fun with that thing.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Never thought about having one before, but once I got to using the Liftall at my old job and now an old Hyster at my new job, I don't know how I ever got along without one. Plus, as I get older I find my back isn't quite what it once was...

I bet having a forklift is kind of like having an air compressor. You never realize how handy they are until you have one, especially at your place since you have room to use it.

I've seen how much use Mike gets out of his and thought that it would sure be handy at times. Right now I'm in the process of moving from my mini-storage into another unit, and I've got that dang lathe and the Cummins to move, not to mention a couple of other engines. I can move everything except the lathe by hand, just using my engine hoist and loading them onto the trailer but the lathe is simply too big and needs to be forked. Having my own forklift would make that process much easier.

As it happens, the forklift is at my storage, I'm buying it from the owner of the storage who also owns a cabinet shop in the same location. He let me use their main forklift to move the lathe into my unit in the first place, but no one was there yesterday so I couldn't borrow it again. I'll have to wait to Monday. In the meantime, I rerally could get the other one going and use it, but I have a radiator (and probably EFI fuel pump) job to do today so that takes priority.

Awesome.

Since you need a carb, I'd convert to propane, might cost a few bucks up front, but you never have to worry about a gunked up carb again.

I have to get that air-tired one of mine going soon.

They are a handy thing to have, no doubt about it.

As it happens, I'm planning to ask my boss if he's got any propane carbs laying around...I'll bet he does, he's got everything else!

Hey Dan, I might have some conversion parts, like the regulator and a few solenoids, have to take look and see if they're still around.

And Joe, as we get older, we like to get more done with less effort

No joy in Mudville, not to say I don't have the stuff, just can't find it.

The boss doesn't think he has anything, but can't be sure. I seem to remember seeing one somewhere in his mess O' crap though...I'll have to take another look. I've come across things he didn't even know he had...

Nice find. I am sure it will come in handy for all kinds of moving. Cars, lathes, Rangers with HO's in them...

Dan, that's quite a find. Have you ever operated fork lifts for a living. They are handy, but are easy to flip if the center of gravity is moved out side the "Piramid of Death." And, even better, if you can't get it going, I think the scrap value is just about $200. Good luck, Jag
