There is a special procedure for removing the headlight switch. It involves pulling the black switch paddle off and repositioning it, then turning the switch in a certain direction to pull back a lug that holds the switch locked in-place. I've seen several broken because people didn't use the correct procedure, NO screwdriver trick is needed or should be used. Look it up in a Haynes or Ford workshop manual. It's kind of like a front door bolt lock to your house.
