Just installed SPD Y pipe!!!! WOW

My shop just put it on. Drove for quite awhile and the fuel econ around town went from 10.5/10.8 up to 12.3/12.4. I am amazed. Less effort on the pedal less often. Even on the hioghway she reacts faster to lighter pushes on the gas pedal..

I recommend this to everyone!!!! Easy to install. My shop did charge me 2 hrs labor. They enjoy bleeding me tho. They also recommended new shocks to me as well. I lokoed at what others recommended and got the Bilsteins.

Back to the Y...Impressive and for a total of $90 + $120, I am VERY happy with the results. Next, a 3 chamber flowmaster Series 70 muffler for more flow and little sound.

Get the Y!!!! You'll be happy.

I checked them out. Is the aluminized pipe made out of aluminum, or just a lower grade metal? Otherwise I'll just get the 304 stainless.

Aluminized means steel with aluminum inodizing.

I have one like that and it's so far been rust-free.

Can the aluminized y pipe be MIG welded or does it have to be TIG?

It can be mig welded. I have had a few mufflers put on trucks with aluminized pipe and they were always mig welded.

The aluminized pipe will rust. The one on my dads truck has surface rust. Just use a wire brush to knock off some off the rust and give it a coat of header paint.

Don't matter how its welded, MIG is just what exhaust shops prefer because its fast and any monkey can pull a trigger and lay a bead with a MIG.

Good, I'll get the aluminized one then. Don't really care if it rusts, I'll just high temp paint it, and its under the truck anyway. Thanks ya'll.

Has anybody else had this kind of luck with this product or any bad experiences? Sounds like a good upgrade for the money.
