how much does your truck weigh?

I must have more weight in it than I thought, the fuel tank is probably close to a thousand pounds full, the tank itself weighs about 250 lbs. The front winch bumper weighs about 400 lbs. with the winch. The truck handles the weight pretty good though. I just didn't think these trucks were that heavy, I guess the crew cab adds a lot of weight.

2001 SB SC F250 V10 4x4, 1/2 tank of gas, weighs in at 6800 and change, call it 6900 lbs - I've gained weight since I had it weighed last at the scrap metal yard
That was without the cap/topper on the back.

If it were me, I'd check the truck at a real weigh station to see what it really weighs. A scrap metal yard isn't too concerned about how accurate the scale is. They are more concerned about the DIFFERENCE between when you go in and when you come out.
As in, if you weigh 500 lbs less than you did going in, that's 500 lbs in scrap metal. Doesn't matter if the scale says 8000lbs, or 9000lbs, or whatever, it's the difference between loaded and empty that they care about.

I disagree on this. If they do business based on weights, their scale has to be certified and checked for accuracy. I think it is a state function, but I cannot believe their is a state that does not check them. Same agency that checks the accuracy of fuel pumps.

I weigh at Oregon DOT weigh stations. We have a lot of them out here in the middle of nowhere that are generally closed and unmanned, but they leave the scale on. The one here near town was WAY off for about 6 months or more, I can't really remember for sure but I think it was putting me around 5000 pounds.
At a couple other of these scales, and at this one when they got it fixed, I generally come in around 7500. Depending on how much fuel, what I'm carrying, etc.
