well......the "old club" had 2 dyno days, one was great, the second was a bust....probably due entirely to lack of communication or a misunderstanding. i dont know all the facts so i wont point fingers at anyone. with that being said......both dyno days were at Debaise Brothers in wallingford.

just something to keep in mind, the dyno facility needs to be able to have space for "a party". that was an issue for some places.

JK Motorsports, Fairfield is too tight as they are crammed into a city block.

Jannetty Racing, Waterbury had/has a lot of open space along one side of it, but I don't know who owned the vacant lot. Hmmm - I guess I'll have to figure that one out, so stay tuned.

I could probably find a lot more places... being into Mustangs seems to help!

 

Something to think about, though I don't know much about the differences in Dyno's.

For those of us who have trucks:

• Sometimes a high-bay garages is necessary so that the ladder rack fits.
• Also (iirc) some dyno's are 4x4 / AWD capable.

we definitely need to be cautious of the "type" of dyno...i know XXX tuning in hartford is the best place to bring your boosted ford, however its an above ground dyno that is not large enough to handle a truck.

 

When I worked at the Harley-Davidson in Stratford, they ran the motorcycles on their little dyno to check out tunes and also as a surrogate for post maintenance road tests when the road were weather related too slick.

 

i need to find a bike dyno that can fit my quad...i ran it on the debaise auto dyno, but it was not reading correctly, at 18:1 my piston should have melted!

 

Gentlemen:

I called Jannetty Racing in Waterbury and the open lot is still there, but I guess it doesn't belong to them. The rep said that everyone parks in the rear, which I recall is tight.

They do host adhoc dyno days on Saturdays (closed Sundays) whenever a bunch of guys make an arrangement to use their facilities, and then Jannetty Racing negotiates a price.

Their website only mentions Drag Days over in New York.

Yes XX had an above ground, which is what EFI Logics is using now. Not sure if a truck would fit. They were more a Subaru tuning place than Fords, but they did a lot of my friends cars!

Likely some of you are better acquainted with dyno-day events / GTGs.

I understand that some facilities offer Dyno-Tuning (priced accordingly).
I am interested in having my van dyno-tuned, but just haven't come to that point.

From what I have read about dyno-days, I gather that the day is just a social event and an opportunity to simply see what each ride can put out on the treadmill.

I don't know how prolonged a dyno-tuning procedure takes.
Does it consume half the day?
If that was the case then I suspect the endeavor would provide little entertainment for anyone else.
(Unless of course there happens to be a catastrophic failure.)

 

most places will charge by the hour (or half hour) basically assuming that strapping the vehicle to the dynes and such will allow you to make 2 pulls then tear down from the rig in about a half hour. others will charge by the run. also, for the gassers sometimes places charge a few bucks extra to monitor A/F ratio.

tuning charges vary greatly, and certain places have different (if any) tuning capabilities for EFI/diesel/etc.

one big point to a dyno day is to have enough vehicles present that are to be dyno'd. i wouldnt expect everyone in the ct chapter to have something to put on the dyno, and often the more vehicles being run the better the rates can be! this is just my .02 but i think to make the event a "dyno day" it should be hosted by CT chapter, and invitations should go out to the dodge boys, mustang crowd, and the assorted local GM clubs, and of course other fte chapters. with proper planning and invitations (plus food on the menu!) there is no reason why it cant be a "day" long party. its always nice to see some of the "heavy hitters" run! i know my friend with the cobra is always down for experimenting on the rollers just for fun!
