any suggestions/ success stories for some kind of replacement bulbs that are brighter than the stock ones? I drove a newer car with xenon lights- now I don't expect that kind of white light, but it'd be nicer to see a marginal improvement over what I have now...these things are comaritively like candles!!!

Are you sure the problem isn't faded lenses? If not, try the Sylvania Silverstars. They are a cut above the stock bulbs and you don't run the risk of too much heat.

 

take off your headlights and buy some cleaner/polisher at the auto shop and then buy bulbs, not stock, better. ask at the shop and they can point you in the right direction

 

I would do most of what is suggested above, but do not, I repeat do not waste your money on the Silverstar. Get the Xtravision instead. Silverstars use a coating to make them look brighter by removing some of the yellow spectrum light. This fools the eyes, but the bulb is actually dimmer. The Xtravision costs less, and puts more light down. Getting a headlight relay kit is also a good idea.
