2004 Ranger 3.0 misfire

I have 2004 Ranger 3.0 that misfires while running. Has no problems cranking up or stalling out. The check engine light stays on all the time but flashes when idliing. I have put it on a code reader and it cameback as misfire on #1 and #2 cylinders. I have replaced the coil and the CPS and the plugs and wires. And also while its idliing you smell rich fuel. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would physically check the engine for bare wires shorting or a vacuum hose leaking.
then I would use a fuel injector, dump it into the gas tank and let run to resolve the problem. If not, I would check the intake gasket by spraying carburator cleaner around the intake manifold. If the engine miss is gone, the its the intake gasket must be replaced.
If this doesnt resolve the problem, remove all spark plugs from the engine and preform
a compression test or use a cylinder leakdown tester.

I justed resolved a misfire on #1 cylinder PO301 code by replacing the plugs, then plug wires and last the coil pack, which resolved the problem.

Good luck

All good ideas. I have heard of stubborn miss problems being related to intake gaskets leaking. Easy to check for with a can spray carb cleaner.
