Ambulance Turbo Q's

Are the turbos used in an Ambulance the same as a van turbo?

I would think it would depend on the body/chassis used; truck or van. If truck, I think it would be the standard wastegated Garrett turbo.

Cool! Good luck. Hopefully, it is the nonwastegated Van turbo.

Most of the 7.3L ambulances were the vans very few I have seen were the truck style. Now I have seen alot of 6.0 ambulances that were trucks.

I don't think that i've ever seen a 7.3 truck that was an ambulance. All I have ever seen were vans.

That will be a good find if it turns out to be a van. We have 2 7.3 ambulances in our shop for some body work that have over 300K on them.

Jeff I have seen some in Claiborn County and Jefferson county. All knoxville seems to be getting now is the Duramax ambulances.

An ATS housing would be a good ideal while its off and a deleted pedistal along with new pedistal o-rings would be all you would need.

Yeah the counties outside of Knox. seem to have more trucks than vans. After their experience with the 6.0 is why they are buying Chevys now. I think they have been buying Chevys for the last 2 years or so.

Back to the topic at hand, I think that all you need is the exhaust adapter from Bean's like Will said.

Here in Milwaukee they use all International ambulances, but just a few years back they had the 7.3L truck versions. After the Fords, they went to a few GMC's and they had cronic problems of just shutting off on the way to a call. They wouldn't restart either. After a few lawsuits they got rid of them and bought new International 4300 ambulances with the 6.0L in them. They just were International's numbers for the 6.0.
