There are two actual names for exterior paint. The promotional color, and the actual color.

Usually, only the actual color is listed in the parts catalog, where I got those two colors above.

What is the COLOR code that is listed on your trucks Warranty Plate for Coronado Red?

So when I want to buy some paint for my 77 F-250, Do I tell them I want Bright Red?

Or do you need the code also?

You give them the COLOR code that's listed on your trucks Warranty Plate, along with its specific year.

If you do not know the COLOR code because you are changing colors, it's a good idea to look thru the FTE member galleries to find the same color, then ask the member what his trucks COLOR code is.

There are places on the net that show color chips, but remember, you are looking at digital pics, which can and do enhance colors.

Ford changed colors and color code numbers yearly.

And, to make it even more confusing, the name of the color and its code that were used on a truck, usually were not the same as used on a car...even tho it was the same damn color!

Parts Catalog sez: T = 1973/79: Red.

Candy Apple Red introduced in 1966 on Mustangs & T-Birds.

btw: That's a 1949/53 Studebaker 2R pickup to the right of the Ford in above pic.
