This is O/T, but someone noted on another board that today is the 50th anniversary of the day Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper were killed in a plane crash.

I was on a bit of a Buddy Holly kick over the summer after finding some of his earlier and lesser known songs, and listened to them over and over while working on my F-1.

Just wanted to give a tip of my hat to those guys.

What was the guy’s name that did not take the flight?

Damn small aircraft (and helicopters) have killed more important people then drugs and alcohol!

The musicians were en route to play a show in Moorhead, Minnesota, across the river from Fargo. Their unfortunate demise turned out to be a break for Fargo native, Bobby Vee, whose band was pressed into service for the show.

J.P. Richardson ("The Big Bopper") was running a fever, so Jennings gave up his seat for him.

"The Day The Music Died" was commemorated in 1973 in Don McLean's "American Pie".

Virto, you are correct, Sir!

Mr. Mayo, you are correct on all three, with some extra credit thrown in!

Hello Mary Lou - Ricky Nelson. I'm sure the check is in the mail. Gotta stop drinking that Kool-aid.

And another great loss due to small planes, to me more relevant than Billy Holly (I'm not THAT old!) was Stevie Ray Vaughan.... RIP

For $100, I will say who is Glenn Miller. Great movie with Steve Allen. My dad played trumpet in a band. I guess some information rubbed off on me...
