I have 94 f250 with a 460. I just bought it so it is mainly stock. I want to put a loud exhaust on it. I dont want to rig any thing and i dont want to spend more than 350 dollars. Any help, suggestions, or experiences would be appreciated.
cutt off the muffler and put a peice of pip in place of it..if it has the dual tailpipes then out a y-pipe after the new peice of pipe to connect them up

OK ryan, you want one of the best exhaust systems you can put on there without tampering with the front section.in 94 i believe you have a 2.5" outlet on your cat.if its a 3" then move on,but if its the smaller remove the heat shield or just trim it back a little to reveal the cat housing.cut the back of the cat off to allow a 3" neck to be welded on.(dont cut to far).you can have a muffler shop do this.find a shop that sells flowmasters and order a 530402 40 series big block muffler single 3" in dual 2.5" out.have them install the system.you wont be disappointed.dont know what youll pay in your area but that system cost 350.00 in my shop.flowmaster mufflers use sound waves to create energy to direct the pulses of an exhaust system,to minimize the battle against atmosperic pressure entering the exhaust system.that is why you wont be as loud as straight pipes, but you will be more efficient and have better H.P. and torque while experiencing higher fuel milage.if you get better milage then its only a matter of time,at 1.70 a gal, and your system has paid for itself.

To break topic slightly, if any of y'all read my posts on exhausts, you know my preference: homebuilt straight pipes. If done correctly, the total cost of a system like this is less than $20.
What I'm having a problem understanding is how people are justifying $350 for an exhaust system. For that kind of cash, I can just about get a junkyard tranny or engine. Hell, I paid less than that for my truck. I keep hearing people chant flowmaster, Flowmaster, FLOWMASTER. I've even been told that I should put a flowmaster system on my $325 truck. What is the obsession with flowmaster? I've heard flowmaster systems, and they do sound better than a conventional muffler, but not as good as straight pipes. Just seems like a lot of you folks have a lot of money to blow. You'd have get an over 3mpg gain for the system to pay for itself within one year. That is a little optimistic.
I put a DynoMax system on my 97' F-250 w/460 and it sounds nice. I spent about $220 becasue I have the 3" cat outlet. Gibson, Dynomax and Flowmaster all make bolt on kits for less than $300. If you have a muffler shop that does custom mandrel bending buy a big block series flowmaster and have them bend you some 3" pipe. I was qouted $150 with the muffler for that kind of job. Next time I will go with a custom bend and flowmaster. Be sure to get the correct size muffler for a BIG BLOCK. I have seen alot of guys stick tiny mufflers on that actually restrict flow and kill power.
Crazy_Goodolboy why don't you do what your name says and get crazy and spend $350 on an exhaust like all of us did?
