Is this truck an auto or manual trans?
Have you tried to start it with wd40 in the air pipes?

its an auto. . . I havn't tried to start it with anything but diesel. If the wd40 trick is like starting fluid. . . I won't use it because the engine should never need starting fluid to run. . . something on it isn't working properly. I'm trying to ascertain why its smoking so much when it does start. Smoking black that is. If anybody has had this symptom and it ended up being a glowplug issue. . . I would like to know about it. I do not think its a glowplug issue. . . except for the fact that the one side is ohming out higher than the other. . . and I do need to research that wiring a little more. . . But the owner started it the other day. . . after being plugged in all night. . . and he said it chugged and smoke black like crazy for five minutes before it finally idled normal. So to me that doesn't sound like a glowplug issue.
