I have put a 6 volt battery in my F-1, and when I try to start it the starter just spins. I am thinking that the battery may not have enough of a charge to kick the bendix in, but maybe someone has some other things to check?
yes , i agree make sure that your battery is at full charge . if that checks out you might have a bendix that may be sticking . you may have to take the starter out and clean the bendix drive . good luck ....
Fresh new battery kicks it over, so that was my issue. now I just need to make it so the tank and the carburetor are connected... currently i am using a 12volt pump with battery to draw fuel out of a 1 gallon gas can and push it to the carb.
my old f-4 did that and the starter bendix took a dump . the new owner had the starter rebuilt and fixed the electrical gremmies and he's driving it . so i'd be willing to bet bad bendix .
I am actually inclined to believe the battery that i had in it was no good anymore. the date code was only about 15 years ago, and it has been sitting for 10 of them.
