1976 engine in 1986 F150

I have an 1986 F150 300 C6 4x4 and it has a carb, a feedback carb, EFI started in 87 for the 300.
You will need the DS2 module on the left inner fender and the harness between the Dissy/coil and the module off the 1976 F150.
Well I am guessing you have DS2 ingition on the 1976 300 and not points. If you have points in the DISSY you will want to change to a Duraspark ingition system, it would be the simplest. I think the 02 sensor in in the exhaust manifold. It would be harder to stay with the EEC IV ignition, feedbackcarb and all the sensors/pickups. I have removed the EEC IV computer and went back to the DS2 Dissy with the GM HEI 4 pin module.
I would get the exhaust of the 1976 if it does not have CATs, but that just me, you dont have to, it will all still bolt up ok.

I have a '79 300 in my '84, your swap will be pretty much the same. Like Jim said, if the '76 has the DS2, I would convert your truck to that ignition system. I 'belive' that in '86 the connections for the DS2 are still there & so the conversion is relatively simple. Its a reliable system & easy to find, etc.
The biggest problem that I had with my swap was the oil pan. From 1980 on, all (that I've seen anyway) trucks used a rear sump-pan, regardless of whether they were 2x4 or 4x4. You need a rear-sump pan (also, the oil pump pick-up & the mounting bolt). If the '76 truck is a 4x4, then you're in buisness, if not, you need to find the right pan. You'll need the earlier, rear-sump pan that has the dipstick that goes through the pan. The reason is that later blocks (from about '83 on or so) have an extra dipstick mounting hole behind the oil filter mount. Earlier engines do not have this.
