5.0 engine

I have a 89 f150 has a 302 in it i plann on pullin the 302 out and puttin a 351 in it. so would it be possible to put the 302 into my ranger? ive heard that you can do this if you relocate the battery and possibly the oil filter but i wasnt sure since my ranger is fairly newer is this still true?

it could be done, alot of work and its going to be more difficult to do certian maintenence stuff like changing spark plugs. a 302 isnt much more horsepower than a 4.0 ohv though, and im sure it weighs quite a bit more. but to each his own, dual exhaust sure sounds better on a V8.

Sure. 302's in rangers a real common swap these days, James Duff sells conversion parts and kits to make it easy. As far as I know the battery doesn't have to be relocated, the oil filter might. If so, James Duff will have the relocation parts.

A modded newer 4.0 will beat a stock 302. Been there done that! The new 4.0's are easy to mod out and rev high. With a decent set of gears, tuned,CAI,flowmaster, and some 15-16" performance tires, a 4.0 will run like a scalded dog. I know!

Yeah, the 4.0 sohc about = a stock 302 in hp, the 302 has a little more torque. With the aftermarket for the 302, it isn't hard to get 400 hp out of them. A 4.0 sohc with a cai, cat back and bama engine programer will run with a stock 302 all day, at least part of the day he he.

Most of the swaps i have seen have been the 302 HO mustang motor. Will the truck motor fit with the big truck intake ??.With a lightly built 302 HO they run great..I have never driven a modded 4.0 but i do know what a modded 5.0 HO will do ...

A 302 swap isnt too bad to do if you are gonna use a carbed version, EFI is a pain.
