I have the leather but I put a wheel skin over it. There was a small bur that I kept picking at while driving. A wheelskin will keep you touching the stock leather and transferring your oils/contaminates to the leather which might help longevity.

For the leather, I love Eagle Ottiwa's Tanner's preserve line. The cleaner on a micro fiber rag first to get the dirt out and return it to the original color. Then the leather cream on top and let it sit a few hours before driving again.

You should test any product you use on an inconspicuous spot. However, the brand name leather care products should be just fine. I ran out of Tanners and tried some Meguires, I just don't like the smell of Meguire's products. It seems like it's not harming the seats though. If I can't find more Eagle Ottiwa, I will try Mother's again, I don't remember why I didn't like it.

Look, see these two tow hooks? They look like tusks. And what kind of animal has tusks?

The leather care products made for boots will work too, if I understand your question correctly.

So much of what I've seen for shoes/boots is colored, even the natural seems to have some color in it. I think you'd be better off hitting a Tack Shop for saddle soap or rein care products, there should be less coloring agents in them.

You are thinking of the polishing products, yeah they have color. I am thinking of the waterproofing agents you can buy, they repel stains, make it easier to clean later and are easy to apply. The tack care products are a good idea, I didn't think of those.
