I've got a buddy with an 07 Supercrew with front doors that rattle pretty bad over rough roads. After searching it seems like a common problem (more so on Supercabs though?) but nobody's really found a true fix. I wondered about adjusting the latches, but are they even adjustable? It didn't seem so to me. Any new solutions or ideas?
I saw my first 09 up close the other day at the shop I work at, in for an oil change. I noticed the strikers seem to look the same but have a rubber piece on the back side. Looks to me like this could be a possible solution and if I can get the rubber piece I might try it.
mine was rattleing on my 05 supercab ..took it in to the dealer they told me they adjusted the inside door panel and the noised stoped but if it gets really cold like 0 to 5 deg my door will still rattle
I always get confused which one is with the half door that opens from the inside, supercrew or supercab. If its the one with the little door, not the full size door, check the bottom latch when you shut the little door, shake the bottom of the door after you shut it, if it wiggles then the bottom didnt latch and that will then in turn not let your front door latch correctly and give you the rattle. I found mine to do that when i dont shut the little door hard enough, or, i found this recently, when its been cold and wet, i think the bottom latch on the little door somewhat freezes and wont latch letting the door sort of flop around on the bottom and not letting the front door close completely tight. So if that is what you have try that, slamming the little door first. If you have the four full size door variety then completely disreguard everything i just wrote! thanks!
Just for fun check and see if you key will unlock the door that is rattling. I had an explorer that the rods and plastic clips all came apart in the door for the manual door lock and a the key was not able to unlock the door, and it rattled around inside the door. Just another thought.
